I was shocked last night to discover that Jeremy Hunt had failed to declare donations from B Sky B. To all, this is a clear conflict of interest especially since his role in giving the go ahead for the BSkyB merger was quasi-judicial. The discovery prompted me to go and dig through the rest of his donations. Thus, the graph above shows the accumulated donations to Jeremy Hunt since 2005. I admit I was surprised to see that the accumulated total amounted to more than £260,000. This figure does not include the sums of money Jeremy Hunt refused to register. Some of the donations were free staffing costs, or financed visits but the Electoral Commission counts them as donations nonetheless since they are of monetary value. What also surprised me was that among those donations was a £4,000+ payment for a funded trip to visit News Corporation in the United States of America..read more
