MARK COLVIN: In Britain, James Murdoch looks likely to have to appear again before the parliamentary committee inquiring into the News of the World voicemail hacking scandal. The newspaper's former lawyer and former editor have evidence to the committee this week which contradicted his testimony about what he did and didn't know.
But in what may be a more serious hurdle for the Murdochs, the inquiry headed by senior judge Lord Leveson kicked off this week. It's started sending out what are effectively summonses to people who are expected to appear before it.
Meantime the police inquiry into phone hacking Operation Weeting, continues its inquiries.
Mary-Ellen Field is an Australian who was hacked because of her work for the model and businesswoman Elle MacPherson. Because of that, she lost her job with Ms MacPherson and her intellectual property practice....read more
