#Hackgate:Neil Wallis who he was up against when he won his £1-k-a-day Scotland Yard contract.

Neil Wallis, who had dined with the commissioner on eight occasions in the three years before he won a £1,000-a-day contract at Scotland Yard, was given the job after undercutting rival bids from communications firms Bell Pottinger and Hanover.
His company Chamy Media was set up in September 2009, just one month before he won the contract, and it was dissolved in May this year, eight months after the contract was terminated.
Scotland Yard invited bids from the three companies. News that Mr Wallis’s newly-formed one-man company was invited to bid for the contract against two of the country’s largest PR firms has led to further questions about Scotland Yard’s tendering process.
Dick Fedorcio, the Met’s director of public affairs, appointed Mr Wallis. He has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) yesterday over the handling of the contract.
It will also form part of the public inquiry chaired by Lord Justice Leveson, who will determine whether the tendering process was fair.....read more
